In 2012, during the presentation of the new flagship smartphone Galaxy S3, Samsung announced the launch of its first voice assistant integrated into the proprietary software shell. Eight years later, company representatives announced the date of the “funeral” of technology that allows you to give your device voice commands.
Large number of branded smartphones of the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note series, Galaxy Tab tablets, and even on the first versions of the company’s smart watches use the S Voice digital assistant. Initially, it was positioned as a voice assistant that can facilitate the management of the Android gadget. But over time, Bixby became a priority for the company. Because of that it was decided to abandon the support of its predecessor.
Samsung announced that the servers responsible for S-Voice functionality will be disconnected on June 1, 2020. As a result of which the assistant will stop working on all previously supported devices. As an alternative, owners of older smartphones can use the Google Assistant. while owners of the Gear S3 and Gear Sport smartphones will receive Bixby instead of S-Voice with the next firmware update.
The S Voice digital assistant was installed on a large number of branded smartphones of the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note series, Galaxy Tab tablets, and even on the first versions of the company’s smart watches.
